Well, I've only been keeping my livejournal to rant. But I thought this time I'd go public with my entry. Over the weekend I went up to Chicago for Easter. The day before I left, which was Thursday afternoon, my Aunt Candice said that my grandma was starting to lose her fight with lung cancer. She's had it since last year and it's just starting to get worse. And since she's in her 80s she can't have chemo. My grandpa has Parkinson's disease, dementia, ect. He doesn't look the same at all.
The good thing is that I got to see both of them this weekend. And I was expecting the worst. They're both in wheelchairs and their room looks pretty much like a private hospital room. They have a caretaker named John who is from Poland who helps them get around.
This weekend wasn't so hard on me as it was for my little brother and sister. And that's mostly because I think it's just starting to hit them. Sam doesn't cry unless he's really upset. And he was crying Saturday afternoon after being around Grandma Verner. She doesn't have much time left and we know it....everyone knows it. Grandpa Verner was crying today as we started to leave to go to the airport. And I wanted to cry too. I didn't...but I kinda did on the airplane heading back to Kansas City. But I just hope that nothing happens until after I graduate college.
Well...I hope everyone had a Happy Easter.

Wow. I haven't done this in ages.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August I donated bone marrow to twitchy_1618 in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Friday I set jamfan619's puppy on fire (-66 points). In September I signed my organ donor card (28 points). In January I gave sindahise a Dutch Oven (-10 points). In May I farted in an elevator (-6 points).

Overall, I've been nice (246 points). For Christmas I deserve a red Radio-Flyer wagon!

2010 NFL 101 Awards (with photos and videos)

Hey everyone, before I start the actual blog, I just want to say that for those of who missed the NFL 101 Awards Press Conference being broadcast on 90.5 KGSP Pirate Radio on Saturday afternoon, you didn't miss anything. We had so many technical difficulties saturday afternoon...I really don't want to type or talking about it anymore. And no we were not able to record it. Trust me, it really wasn't worth taping. But I was able to record the press conference from some of the NFL 101 Award winners on video.

The reason why it wasn't worth taping was because of the fact that Peyton wasn't there. But Archie was! I'll talk about a very cool story later.

So of course the NFL 101 Awards started with the Chiefs section of the program with Ryan Succup getting the Mack Lee Hill Award and Jamaal Charles winning the Derrick Thomas Award. These guys were very nice and I had a great time meeting both of them. Marty Schottenheimer was there as well. He is going to be inducted to the Chief's Hall of Fame later this year. He teared up during the last part of his speech.

For Mike Tirico, Darrell Revis, Charles Woodson, Drew Brees and Marvin Lewis (Sean Payton was not in attendance tonight), I have videos since I really don't want to talk about that part of the press conference all that much. And of course the first part I said that Peyton was also not in attendance during the NFL 101 Awards. He REALLY wanted to be there too, but his doctor said absolutely not. But it was great that Archie was there.

After the press conference and everything Juan C, Phil and I got to mingle with some people we didn't really know all that well. This woman named Star was very nice to me and even got me an extra key to the room she and her friends were staying at.

So after I met Star and we went up to the place where she and her friends were staying. I didn't stay in the hotel room for too long because I wanted to make sure Carlos and Phil were ok. So guess who I meet going down to the ball rooms? ARCHIE MANNING! I really couldn't believe it at first. I said, "Hi Archie!" and shook his hand. He stood next to me on the elevator! It was hard trying to keep it cool. I told him that I had a card for Peyton (kinda should have mentioned it was a birthday I gave it to him after we got off the elevator. He was SO NICE! Oh and btw, I did get my picture taken with him later after the dinner.

So of course I didn't do much until the dinner. Just basically mingle with Mike, Juan and Phil. Oh yeah...and of course I ended up having to call my relatives after my little run-in with Archie (I ended up calling my mom, dad and my grandparents). I also got my picture taken with Cincy Bengals coach Marvin Lewis before he went to the reception. Got to shake hands with the Mayor of Kansas City Mark Funkhouser. I tried to get my picture taken with Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Todd Haley, but my camera didn't work. He said we would try to get a photo later, but I didn't find him. Not a total loss though.

The ceremony was pretty good. I'm not going to talk too much about it. Basically the Chiefs players went first with Ryan Succup and Jamaal Charles. Todd Haley made a speech about the guys. It was really funny to see him so laid back because that's really how I don't picture the guy...which is mostly because he's on the sidelines yelling at the players and being loud most of the time!

During the dinner we had a bunch of players come over to our table, so I got my picture taken with Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles and Ryan Succup (that picture wasn't the best because Star moved the camera when it wasn't done flashing!). I wanted to get my picture taken with Archie, but he was really quick to get his mic on and get back to his table, so that didn't happen until later. I wasn't able to get my picture with Drew Brees this year either, but I didn't take that as a total loss either because I got his autograph and shook his hand.

The only part of the night I didn't like was the fact that...well I guess we could say...our arch enemy Rex Ryan was there. UHG UHG UHG! Ok, now he got lucky because I hate this man with a flying passion. And during the dinner he made a little joke how he knew that Peyton wasn't at the awards and that Archie was filling in for him. He wanted Archie to fill in for Peyton for the rest of that time in the NFL (something like that). Oh did that piss me off! I yelled, "OH SHUT UP!" too! I even told Darrell Revis that Rex Ryan needs to be careful when there are Colts fans in the room!

But other than that, it was a great night. Photos and video are behind the cut!

Kenny Chesney at Lucas Oil Stadium Review: The great, the good, the bad and the REALLY UGLY!

I was trying to figure out on the plane which one I should start off with...and I think I just need to go down the last of the great, good, bad and the really ugly things I encountered during this trip to see Kenny Chesney at Lucas Oil Stadium yesterday. So, here we go!

The Great: Getting to meet a lot of Kenny Chesney fans, plus getting to meet some people I had met at older concerts (e.i. Karen and Kevin who I met at the Sprint Center earlier in May). And especially getting to go on air with No Shoes Radio was a blast! And I really have to say anything to Tambo who was nice enough to give me and Holly sandbar tickets. I didn't even think it was going to happen. But hey, trying doesn't hurt right? Oh, and being about an inch away from Kenny almost the entire time he was on stage was pretty sweet too!

The Good: This was mostly my fault but I could have had some more to eat before I had to stand it sandbar for almost 9 hours. The good thing is that the food at the tailgate was really good! Plus I needed to have hung out with people more.

The bad: Ok, Sandbar is not for those who do not like being in tight spaces. It was hard to breath almost the entire night because it was packed. Plus people were being really rude and cursing. So I don't think I'm gonna try for sandbar anymore. Maybe like front row...but no more sandbar for me.

The ugly: Got stuck in Dallas friday night...oh yeah that was great...NOT! We missed the flight out to Indianapolis that night because we were late taking off from Kansas City and late getting to Dallas. Yeah I was NOT HAPPY!

All in all, the show was great though. I was really impressed with The Zac Brown Band even though I'm not a huge fan and I haven't heard all of their songs. But that had a lot of high energy and really got the crowd going.

I really don't need to say much about Miranda because I've seen her open for Kenny three times now. Montgomery Gentry was pretty great too. I'm not a huge fan of them either but I got high fives and waved at by them a couple of time while they were on stage.

And of course I have to talk about Sugarland. And the reason why I don't have a lot of Sugarland photos is mostly because I was about to faint in sandbar. I had barely anything to eat or drink and I couldn't stand it. Plus I just needed some air. So I went out and just watched most of them on the plasma screen TVs while I had a pretzel and some water. I got back in time for Kenny though!

Kenny was great...and I still couldn't believe that it was his last show. He came out on the swing and opened with "Live Those Songs." I got to watch him get off the swing on the catwalk. I guess the best thing about sandbar was how close I was to him almost the entire night. I loved it. He cried during "Better As a Memory." I kinda of started to cry too. It's gonna be sad without him next year. But he's got a new album coming out and the 3-D movie concert. But it won't really be the same...

Here's the link for the pics. I would upload all of them, but I have class in like 20 minutes:

Peyton Manning picspam/ramblings

Hey. How is everyone doing today? I'm not doing so great. We had a big thunderstorm yesterday morning. This big clap of thunder basically shook the house. Yeah, I'm not even kidding about that. Well...I woke up and my knee was throbbing in pain. So...I think something might have dropped on it. I'm not sure what because I was 3/4 asleep when it happened. So I didn't hear anything break or see anything hit me at the time. That's just my assumption of course, so I know I could be wrong. So right now the only thing I can do is just pray for the best at the moment. I'll give you guys updates on how it's doing.
Peyton picspam. Enjoy!

Peyton smiling's been a while hasn't it?

Hey guys! Sorry it's been a while since I've updating here. I've been really busy with work and my internship. I'm in Florida right now trying to relax before my step-dad and I go home tomorrow. It's been a trying week that's for sure. I kinda don't like the fact that there are seven people at the condo right now. It was bad enough with five people...but SEVEN?! And trust me, this condo is seriously freakin small. I'm not even kidding. But like I said before, I'm home bound tomorrow so it's not going to be so bad. Have a great day!

This feels weird...

I'm back at Park University for a couple of hours since I have to take the WCT at 10a.m. I'm actually in the KGSP Student Lounge...a.k.a my office and this really feels weird because I haven't been on campus in literally over a month. Of course there's barely anyone here since it's summer...well, actually, that's not totally true since some people are taking summer classes. But it makes me think, and call it what you want...but I can't wait for the fall to get here. I miss seeing my friends and hanging out at the radio station. And just being here, makes me scares that I'm going to be station manager or head of the radio station in the fall. And the sad factor is that August only two months away.
