I think I'm starting to realize how much I hate living in the midwest. But, then again, I guess severe thunderstorms are pretty much everywhere in the U.S...right? LOL! We've had a bunch of freak thunderstorms since about 6:30 last night. The good thing is that nothing really serious hit Parkville...the bad thing is that some of my friends live down south, which is where most of the bad storms were. I'm just kind of glad my friend Maureen was in Florida and not here, because she lives in Lees' Summit, and there was a tornado warning down there. I know she would have gotten all excited though because she wanted to go out and chase tornadoes when she was younger. I don't know if she still wants to do that now though, because I don't talk to her that much...but oh well.

Well.... [02 May 2008|10:30am]

There's no school today because of the fact that we didn't get our electricity back on until like 8a.m. The power went out here at the dorm building at 1:30 in the morning. Fifteen minutes later we were evacuated to the basement (which I thought was stupid). But I just got off the phone with my dad, and he said there were sirens that went off at 1:30 and another one that went off at 2a.m. I actually didn't go to sleep until 3 in the morning...but yeah...it was pretty scary.
We didn't have too much damage here though. I'm going to see if someone can drive me through Gladstone and Liberty to see the damage there, and see if anyone needs any help. I mean...the one thing that scared me last night was the fact that my window was shaking...and that was enough warning for me to get the hell downstairs. I thought it was kind of funny that some of the guys were freaking out, and I wasn't. But I think it's the fact that I've lived in Missouri for 21 years and have never see a tornado. Usually the bad stuff happens in Kansas anyways. If I'm able to get out of my dorm and up to some places that had a lot of damage, I'm going to take pictures and I'll post them later. But just want to let you guys know that I'm all right :)
